Turtles in the Sand

She was just walking along
Like me, while the others
Splashed and squalled.

We formed the sand
For their heads, their feet,
And stuck bright pebbles in their backs.

Turtles at the water's edge,
The water nipping
At their round noses,
Beckoning them home.

And I wish I could have told her
It was one of the best days of my life.
Making turtles in the sand...
And I loved her,
In a strange, wonderful way
For being there with me.

2005-10-13 ghost: It's pretty well written. Some of the line cuts are a bit odd, but that's artistic license anyway. But it is nice and sublime - a well painted memory.

2005-10-15 La Divina: Thank you.

2006-12-03 Annie: This is so sweet and beautiful. "beckoning them home" relates to the last few lines about "her". Perhaps they're both going home?

2006-12-03 La Divina: *grins* Maybe they are. Thank you for reading my poem.

2007-03-19 Jenna Rose: Excellent work ^.^
